…So, the delightful Lulu tagged me to list 8 interesting things about myself… which wasn’t easy and just about did my last brain cell in.
1). I harbour secret desires to be a 1940s femme fatale, or at least to look like one. Wrap dresses, stockings, pin curls and red lipstick. Oh and as far as I’m aware this has nothing to do with repressed sexual deviance… I’m simply a wannabe Ann Savage/Lana Turner/Jane Greer. I’m also a huge film noir nut which is most likely where this all stems from. If you ever get the chance to watch ‘Detour’, then please do!
2). I’m a surviving twin. I unfortunately know nothing about my twin, not even gender. Mum was scheduled for a D&C after she miscarried as no-one was aware she was carrying twins. It was only the last minute intervention of a curious trainee Polish doctor that prevented the D&C going ahead. He discovered a faint heartbeat and Mum was admitted into the hospital immediately, where she stayed for the next couple of months being injected with various drugs to prevent me making an appearance until I had a chance of survival.
3). I was a Southampton Football (soccer) Club season ticket holder for nearly 7 years and travelled all over the country to away matches. I think my husband was really excited that his wife loved football, unfortunately for him I can’t be arsed with it nowadays.
4). My best subject at school was French, but I was too good and I got complacent. I waltzed into A Level French in college thinking I didn’t have to do any work and quickly got left behind by girls SO much better than me. Lesson learnt.
5). I went to university wanting to be either a film/video editor or journalist. I spent 3 years doing a degree where I ended up loving half of the subject (cultural studies) and hating the other half (media). I pretty much disliked everyone that took the degree, they were generally wannabe Children’s TV presenters… I wouldn’t have been surprised if they grouped together to immolate themselves just for some extra attention on a Monday morning. I’m still £11,000 in debt from it… but hey, at least I can put some fancy letters after my name right?
6). I met my husband on the internet when I was 19 after coming home from spending almost a year in Australia and finding that I didn’t really know what to do with myself once I’d got back. I kinda outgrew all my friends and just wanted to go back to Sydney. As money and other obligations wouldn’t allow it, I discovered that I’d rather spend my evenings in an internet chatroom instead of being out clubbing. My husband only came into above said chatroom to troll and rip the piss out of all the sad gits that spent their evenings tapping away at the keyboard, luckily for me, he became one of them.
7). I’m addicted to The Avengers (60s b&w/early colour not the New Avengers or that crappy 90s film). I (heart) Tara King and went through a Mod phase in my late teens… Mary Quant type dresses and a sharp bob… oh the shame.
8). I have a skin ‘condition’ called Dermographia which basically means I can write on my skin. It only needs a really light stroke of my nail and up pops whatever I’ve written a few seconds later, red and slightly raised. Thankfully it doesn’t look gross. The condition seems to cause some people problems… so mine must be quite mild. For me, it’s a neat party trick… just call me the human post-it note.
Well that’s me done, hope I haven’t bored you too much!
I’m trying not to double up on people who’ve already been tagged, apologies if you don’t want to do this or have already been tagged. Feel free to ignore it. Anyway, without further ado… I’m passing this on to the captivating Christie, marvellous Monyeen, scintillating Sue and the heavenly Heather (how cool is alliteration?)
Hopefully, I’ll have some pics to share in the next post… my 430ex arrived today!
